Hi! I’m Violet Carol. Welcome to Mother Love Letters, my Substack publication home to intimate and confessional writings on motherhood, womanhood, and identity.
I’m a mom. I’m also a wife, a daughter, a sister, a writer, a bookworm, a lover of puffy dresses and Spring, a hater of spiders and Winter, and a thousand other selves. I write about them all against the backdrop of motherhood.
On Mother Love Letters, you’ll find posts in the form of:
💌 Personal Essays: big feelings about the human experience in long-form prose.
📝 Poetry: ripped edges for saucy days, lullabies for softer days. Poetry is for traveling through, or stopping, time.
🌃 Nightcaps: too tired to read a lengthy post? I also write flash essays called Nightcaps that you can read in three minutes or less.
🗯️ Mothers! Assemble: a series of collective essays created to highlight personal stories from readers about our shared experiences in pregnancy and motherhood.
About Me 🎀
I hold a BA in International Studies and Political Science from the University of Florida and a JD from Santa Clara Law. I used to run a solo practice, but now I work part-time as a lawyer lady so I can spend more time with my daughter.
I write mostly on motherhood, womanhood, and identity — as well as love and time. My work here on Mother Love Letters is primarily creative nonfiction, but I’m also working on several thematic poetry collections and literary fiction manuscripts with a touch of romance and magic outside of Substack.
